How it works

Fill in the gaps with a few thoughtful injections here and there and only where you need it. Injectable dermal filler improves the appearance of your skin by lifting, plumping, perfecting and smoothing out your facial features. Think of those beautiful lip injections or chin enhancements! Dermal fillers can be composed of synthetic and some naturally occurring substances. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is one of the most common compounds used in dermal fillers because it’s already a naturally occurring substance found in our skin. It plays a big role in keeping your skin hydrated and volumized.

FAQs

We carry three hyaluronic acid-based brands such as Restylane, Teosyal, and Stylage. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occuring substance in the body and in the cells of the skin, thus there is no risk of allergic reactions.
Every dermal filler treatment starts with a consultation with our nurse injector at The Clinica. During this consultation process you’ll discuss your concerns, questions, and beauty goals. Together, you and your nurse injector will create the best course of action, including the amount of filler needed to achieve your skin goals. Everything during the consultation will remain confidential.
To avoid a higher probability of bruising, we recommend stop taking over-the-counter blood thinners, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, one week prior to your appointment. A few days prior to your appointment avoid consuming alcohol, waxing or using any type of hair removal product on the area of injection, and stop using topical products such as tretinoin, glycolic acids, retinols or any other anti-aging products that could potentially add irritation to the area of injection.
After your consultation with the nurse, the injections themselves will be a fast process. You can expect the whole session to last about 30 minutes with the option to numb the area with our numbing cream to ensure nothing hurts! The nurse may want to schedule a follow-up appointment within the next couple of weeks to check up on your results and satisfaction. This is a great opportunity to maintain your results
The results are almost immediate. The difference is that you will experience swelling and some bruising in the area of injection. The swelling will go down in about five days.
All dermal fillers we carry are approved by Health Canada. We also carry hyaluronic acid-based brands which means there’s no risk of allergic reactions.
Temporary side effects include swelling and bruising in the area due to the needle injections. The swelling and bruising typically goes down within five days.
People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have allergies, infections and/or nerve disorders shouldn’t use dermal fillers. It’s extremely important to share every detail about your health history, allergies, and medications with your nurse injector
After your treatment our nurse injector will go over the after-care process with you. We encourage you to follow their advice to maximize your treatment benefits and avoid any undesirable side effects. Our nurse injector may want to schedule a follow-up appointment to check up on your results and satisfaction.
